Harper @ 10 Months

I remember last summer, sitting on the couch with my broken foot, thinking.. by the time we move, Harper will be almost one year old. It seemed so impossibly far away (especially with the broken foot - it felt like I would never be back on my feet), but now here we are; all moved into the new place and Harper is half-way through her 10th month of life.
Our second night in the new house, Harper was having a horrible time. She was up past her normal 8:00 bedtime and there was no sleep in sight. She cried and cried and just wanted to be held. I thought, great, she hates the new house.. Buuuut, after a pretty restless night, she was back to her normal self the next day and THREE teeth had poked through over night! So, now she has 5 teeth - two on the bottom and three on the top. I think Tanner practically had a full mouth of teeth by this age {freak} and I've been super lucky with both of them to have a fairly good teething experience. Minus Harper's one bad night, it's been smooth sailing.
Not too much has changed for Harper this month from last. Still crawling all over the place and still talking little baby talks. Her hair is growing like crazy and is getting a little lighter.. And I swear she's going to start walking any day now.
And now for the mini-photo-shoot..

Harper LOVES to crawl into our bathroom and unravel toilet paper, empty the garbage can, and basically get into mischief. We try to keep the bathroom door shut, but every now and then, it gets left open and she wonders off in there.

She does this cute thing when she's happy - she closes her eyes, scrunches up her little nose and sniff, sniff, sniffs while giving me big smiles.. I love it :)
In non-Harper-related news, it has been BEAUTIFUL out! I'm bummed out, our screens aren't installed on the windows yet because I would love to let some of this warm, spring air into the house.. Hopefully soon!

Wrigley found her new spot in the house real quick. She loves to lounge on the ottoman under the window and take little snoozes in the sunshine :)
Enjoy the weather this weekend - happy St. Pattys!

P.S.. Mike forgot his insulin again on Tuesday this week.. I was busy in the kitchen with the kids when the garage door opened. He came in, looking all sheepish, and grabbed his insulin.. He smiled after I told him he was lucky he didn't call me to drive it to him again ;)

Seriously..

OK, Mike has been diabetic for like, over 25 years now and he STILL forgets to take his insulin with him to work. The other day was the FOURTH time he forgot it in the past WEEK. I really didn't want to drive it to him at work, but what do you do? I can't really teach him a lesson by not bringing it to him. Kinda hard to learn a lesson when you're IN A COMA! But, seriously, how do you forget something that is essential for you to function? I don't even forget to wear my deodorant so I'm pretty sure if I had some kind of medication to take that made my organs function properly, I sure as heck wouldn't forget that! So, please, feel free to call, email or text Mike. Remind him to bring his insulin to work EVERY day :) That's all. Thanks.

Harper @ 9 Months

Sooooo.. She actually just turned 10 months the other day, so I guess I'm a little behind.. Horrible, horrible mom! Even more horrible.. I didn't take her to her 9 month well baby check-up appointment, so no stats on this posting. But, my guess is that her head is around the 99th percentile, her height is around 80 and her weight is also about 99 :) In my defense, the only reason we skipped this appointment was because with the month of sick, we were at the doctors office about 10,876 times and I really didn't feel like paying them more money to have her weighed and measured. No vaccinations at the 9 month appointment, so stats are basically all that happens there anyways. And they tell me what she's going to be doing for the next three months, which I will find out anyways when I live those three months with her ;)

At nine months, Harper has her two little bottom teeth..
And she is cruising everywhere.. Her favorite thing is to pull herself up to the window and watch what's going on outside. She's so proud of herself!
Another favorite pastime: watching the washing machine. Pretty exciting stuff.
She's still sleeping like an angel and napping once or twice a day. Super sweet and always down for a little snuggle. She says "mama" and babbles a lot. She makes this smacking noise all the time; I can hear her doing it in the morning through the monitor. If she hears music, she'll try to dance - it looks more like a wiggle or sometimes a seizure, but it's pretty dang cute. She's pretty dang cute :)

Later, Delano!

Of course, winter stayed away all season.. until we moved.. We had some bitter, bitter, cold evenings of loading and unloading vehicles until you couldn't feel your fingers. We still have quite a bit to do, but the big stuff is done and we are busy getting settled into the new digs. I got a little sentimental during our last night in the Delano house. I thought about bringing our babies home after they were born. How it was their first home and how we had so many "firsts" in that house. I thought about all the plans Mike and I made for our future; all the nights we stayed up talking about getting married, being married, starting a family and raising our kids. But... It's just a house and we'll make new memories in this home. And I can make a home anywhere my family is. And so far, we are *loving* it here in Otsego.. There's something freeing about downsizing and getting rid of all the excess. Plus, we are really utilizing every square inch of this house, only taking what we need and use and we are more organized than we've ever been - and probably ever will be! (Plus, plus - the BIGGEST Target in the Universe is in Otsego!! Eeeek!)
The kids are adjusting and liking it. Wrigley was a little nervous the first few days with all the people coming and going. She didn't want to go outside at all and just kind of cowered in corners all day. She seems to be doing much better though now that things are coming together and the traffic in our house has subsided a little.

I don't remember why, but I had to wash Tanner's blanket this day and he was absolutely DISTRAUGHT! He wouldn't come out of the laundry room and he cried and cried until the wash cycle was done..
It was funny. And not related to us moving at all..! Thanks to all for stopping by to see the new place and for helping us by lending your vehicles or an extra hand. We appreciate it and hope we don't have to do it again for a long, long while! And now... I am going to pour myself a very large glass of wine!

Otsego, Here We Come!

After weeks of this stuff...
Everyone is finally feeling better and we haven't had any vomiting for almost a week now.. I think it's finally over! And just in time because we have lots of packing to be done.. We will be packing up the house this week and have rented a big ol' truck for Friday and Saturday to move all of our furniture. We hope to spend our first night in the new home on Saturday night - yay! So, more than likely, you won't see me on here a whole lot the next couple of weeks.. But I guess that's nothing new in 2012 for this bad little blogger! I do hope to find an area for the computer in our new house that's more easily accessible for me. It doesn't seem like getting upstairs to my computer now would be that much work, but in fact it kind of is. This involves bringing two kids upstairs with me, where nothing is baby-proofed. Tanner is quick as lightening and he always finds something to get into. Usually dads shaving cream or some q-tips. He's especially fond of our bathroom. Same goes for Harper now - she's about two paces behind him at all times.. So, if I can get this thing set up in our living room in the new house, I am much more likely to get on here.. So, wish us luck for the move and we'll see you on the flip side!

Woe Is Me ;)

Three solid weeks of sickness floating around our house.. We got hit with the flu, a little bronchitis and some croup. I *think* we are finally over it, although I'm a little nervous about putting it out there again and jinxing myself.. So, it's been pretty glamorous around here.. I've been cleaning lots of puke, running nebulizers around the clock, changing some unGODLY diapers and cleaning some more..

Jinxed

Probably an hour or two after I put up my last posting on Friday, Harper started throwing up again. At first I thought it must be fluke, what kid gets the flu twice in two weeks? Apparently, my kid does. Poor baby girl. She's been pretty sick since Friday, BUT.. she has kept her last two bottles down now so I'm hoping we've seen the worst of it. Fingers crossed. To top it off, both kids are congested and Harper has a nasty cough. How on Earth Mike and I have evaded sickness is beyond me. Mike says it must be all the vodka we drink.. We're killing off any potential germs ;)
